The new thematic presentation focuses on certain essential themes: history painting, depictions of Brest’s port and navy, depictions of the other (Orientalism and Japonisma), “dream” painting (the School of Pont-Aven, the Nabis, Symbolism) and furthermore, the works of artists belonging to Brest art critic Charles Estienne’s circle and the works of a Brest painter, François Dilasser.
